Director of Advancement
FOR Students is seeking a Director of Advancement to join our growing team. This is a critical leadership role for a self-starter who is passionate about our mission and ready to build meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and the broader community.
The right candidate will bring both strategic vision and hands-on execution to advance critical activities for our organization to strengthen readiness to expand the population of those served by our programs in the Charlotte community and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Annual Fund & Fundraising (30%)
- Lead the development and execution of FOR Students’ annual fundraising strategy
- Cultivate and steward a portfolio of individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations depending on funding and audience priorities
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to grow and diversify revenue
- Maintain accurate donor records and reporting through our CRM platform
Marketing & Communications (30%)
- Develop and implement a communications strategy across email, social media, and print
- Prepare Staff, Board and Key Volunteers of FOR Students to share our story in a compelling way to donors, partners, and the public
- Collaborate with staff to create content that reflects program impact and mission
- Maintain brand consistency and a high standard for external-facing materials
Fundraising Events (20%)
- Plan and execute FOR Students’ fundraising events from concept through execution
- Manage event budgets, timelines, vendor relationships, and volunteer teams
- Create donor experiences that reflect our mission and inspire generosity
- Thoughtfully curate event programming to convert attendees to donors
Volunteer Stewardship (20%)
- Build and manage a robust volunteer program that engages community members in meaningful ways
- Partner with Director of Operations to build systems for recruiting, onboarding, recognizing, and retaining volunteers
- Foster deep relationships with volunteers who can become long-term advocates and donors

Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, advancement, or a related field
- Experience managing events and various stakeholder relationships
Strong written and verbal communication skills - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with donor management or CRM systems, preferred
